Artist's Comments

At first I put this in scrap cause- well I'm not sure that I'm completely finished with it yet. I would love a critique!

Crewscontrol, baby!

hey! Thanks a for the comment. I love Ashley Wood, so I guess some of his style has influenced me. Especailly when it comes to textures.
:iconsicken:
i like this style...it's a really interesting piece.
the colours are amazing too...
:iconarisashi:
I'd like to know more about what it makes you think about. Do you think she stabbed herself or got stabbed by a customer?
:sherlock:
:iconsicken:
i think she is just too annoyed by the world....so well...she freaked out....(but that's nothing unusual) and just stabbed herself.
the spiders and the snakes amused her for a while...but then she got sick of them too. so there she is...thinking....i'm probably going to die....well. fuck it.
:iconrivelea:
this i like even better than horus, and scraps- are you mad?!
do you mind me asking, but was it based on a photo? because it has an incredible realistic base, and yet it's enriched with the quite surreal swirls.
hmm.... i would say that she was somehow stabbed by accident with the spoon, maybe herself, maybe a co-workers, and then a customer asked for service, and she basically just turned to them, and showed her arm, with spools of snakes and sporadic jetstreams floating out , and then she fainted feels a sickening pit, and sees not stars but twists of blod red twirling her into unconsciousness.
i don't know how you've done what you've done in this image, but i love it.
(i love how annoyed she looks by the way!) and also, welcome! :)
:iconrivelea:
oh! sorry to be writing billions of notes here, but i commented on horus, mentioning that your stle reminded me of Thom May, and then on seeing this, realised that Thom May had listed Ashley Wood as an influence. so... yay?
:iconarisashi:
I don't mind you asking! I do work a lot from photos, but this particular face was from my head. The body and hands were made by looking at myself in a mirror. She is wearing my actual waitressing uniform. (which I hate wearing to and from work cause it makes me look like a hillbilly. yee-haw) I was debating about making her have a fake smile on her face- but liked this better in the end. Plus... I cant draw teeth.
:iconrivelea:
aww, i am lucky in respect because we have no uniform, :w00t:!
thanks for that, i was thinking that the face and body where painted somehow, but i was wondering about the table, and the coffee mug in particular, it looks quite wonderfully realistic... somehow it adds to the surrealism of the scene.
heh, i personally like this the way it is, a sort of tired, matter-of-fact, resigned annoyance rather than rage.
:D i am glad to hear you'd prefer a small group of friends, and oh! i just noticed the spiders. how deliciously dark and disturbing!
:iconarisashi:
The face is done in pencil, the body in oil paint, and the table is both. The cup and silverware is actually real! But I added textures to them.
